Q Term Project Instructions: You are required to select a well-known company that you want to research and then answer the questions that follow. Pick a well-known company that you like such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon, Tesla, Nike, Bank of America, McDonalds……You have to be able to find a Value Line report on your company. Part I- Value Line (One Page) Obtain the one-page copy of the Value Line report of your company from the Reference Section of the library and include a copy in your project. You may also be able to obtain this online. (Please take a look at the Walmart Value Line icon on our course home page to see what a Value Line look like.) Use this one page Value Line report to answer the following questions. 1- You are a stockbroker at Merrill Lynch. Give three well thought out reasons as to why you would call your clients to sell them this stock. Remember, you work on full commission and have to be very persuasive while doing what is in the ‘best interests’ of the clients. 2- Explain and detail the earnings per share of this company over the last five years. What kind of trend do you notice? Why is this happening? 3- Summarize what the write up on the bottom half of the Value Line states. 4- What rating does the Value Line give in the upper left? Do you agree with this? Why or why not? Part II- Company Website (One Page) Company Website 1- What is your opinion of your company’s mission statement and why is it important? (Do not copy the mission statement). 2- Discuss four ways the company has been innovative over the years. 3- You are the new CEO of the company. Discuss four innovative ideas you will present to the Board of Directors to increase sales and customer satisfaction. 4- As the new CEO, how are you going to motivate employees to take the company to the next level? List four ways you are going to do this. You cannot give pay raises Part III- The 4 P’s of Marketing (One Page) 1- Discuss how the 4 P’s of marketing relate to your company’s products or services. Discuss each of the 4 P’s, do not give a definition of what the 4 P’s are Part IV- Ethics and Social Responsibility (One Page) 1-Look at your company’s website and what is your opinion of what it states about ethics and social responsibility. Do not copy the ethics or social responsibility policy. 2- Why should a company be ethical and socially responsible? 3- What four steps would you take to improve the ethics of your company? 4-Your company is about to go bankrupt and tens of thousands of jobs are at stake. Should the US government spend billions of dollars to bail out your company like GM and Bank of America? Is this ethical because of poor management and competition? What about the US taxpayer? Part V- President of the United States (One Page) You have just been elected President of the United States of America and you have to get the economy going and reduce unemployment. Discuss what your plan is regarding each of the following five concepts: 1- Should the United States continue running federal budget deficits or have a balanced budget? 2- Do you favor free trade with other countries or protectionism? 3- Should federal income taxes be increased or decreased to help the economy? 4-How will you help entrepreneurs open a new business to help create new jobs and assist in innovation in the United States so we can remain economically strong? SUBMISSION OF FINAL TERM PROJECT • The project must be typed on 8 ½” x 11” inch document, utilizing one inch margins, double spaced and 12 point font. • You must have a cover sheet with your name, date and course name. • You must have a Table of Contents listing the format of your project. As a stockbroker at Merrill lynch the three thought out reasons for calling clients to sell them Amazon’s company stock are: Amazon is destroying their competition to the point where they have achieved a staggering U.S retail e-commerce market share; Amazon is much larger and more diverse than many people think it is; and Amazon’s resilience during challenging times. It means Amazon delivered products and services nearly uninterrupted during pandemic times. It also has 200 million prime members (Berg & Knights, 2021). Therefore, Amazon is a trustworthy company for buying stocks. The earnings per share has shown an increasing trend over the years from 2012 to 2016. It increased over by 100% year on year basis from .29 to .59. It increased from .59 to 1.52 from 2013 to 2014. 2014-2015 showed much slower growth. 2015-16 showed a manifold increase in earnings per share by 350%. This increase has been registered by the company due to its effective sales growth and increasing revenue from operations reduction in costs. The bottom half of the value line states the business information of amazon.com. It shows the sales break of the company. Amazon’s 25% of the sales break comes from books, music, and videos. 68% of sales come from electronics and 7% from other sources. 38% of total sales comes from international sales. Amazon has a total of 154,100 employees (Berg & Knights, 2021). Its 18.2% of the common stock is being held by its directors. The value states show that mainly the generated revenue comes from electronics and the company is reporting better financial results every year. The company is getting highest rank which is rank 1 by gaining every 6-12 months, and the expected price of the rank 1 stock should be greater than other stocks. The company values line safety rank is 3 meaning that the stock of the company is in the middle (Publishing, 2021). I agree with this because the company sales are increasing every year. The statistics is also showing that the company sales and revenue are increasing every year. Part II- Company Website Company Website: https://www.amazon.com/ The mission statement of Amazon is effective because of the ways in which the website of the organization effectively impacts the minds of the customers. This is because the accepted as well as expected experience of every user has always been the common area of concentration of the organization (https://www.amazon.com/). This statement is important for the organization because of the ways in which there can be every type of customer convinced about the products as well as services of the organization. The customers can always rely on the aspect of the organization never compromising with the utilization of the internet. There can be the hope of obtaining products from the organization via online orders. The mission statement’s importance can also be identified with the ways in which the customers marketing products of their businesses can find the website of the organization reliable. This is because of the effective ways of showcasing the products to global customers with details of prices and features of the products (https://www.amazon.com/). The images of the products with their labels are also available in the website not deceiving any customer. There has been innovativeness shown by Amazon by ensuring that the delivery of the products of the organization would be provided to customers within 24 hours of the time and date of ordering of products (Berg & Knights, 2021). Another innovative move has been the mobile phone application of the organization updated constantly for convenience of customers (Berg & Knights, 2021). Four innovative ideas presented by me would be introduction of disruptive technology in some products of Amazon, conduction of weekly lucky contests for customers, introduction of individual customer-assistants for assisting customers every month, and enhancing employee-customer interaction via social networking websites. Employees would be motivated by offering them rewards programs with appreciation certificates, offering them with recreational activities, conducting debates, and conducting groupwork-sessions.
